Say Hello!
The story of this Sawtooth Mountains proposal will prove great things did happen in 2020.
Imagine this. One evening you’re hiking ten miles to an alpine lake and the next you’re ENGAGED with the most epic backdrop you could dream up. This surprise Sawtooth Mountains proposal is super special to me and here’s why.
Change of (Proposal) Plans
Dylan is my brother-in-law and Christine is my sister-in-law to be! We take a family vacation every summer together. 2020 obviously made this challenging. We originally had plans for Hawaii, then the islands closed. We changed the trip to the USVI and a week before the trip, their borders closed. None of us would have pushed so hard for this trip, but we were privy to the top secret proposal! With less than a week before our departure date, I replanned the entire trip (for the third time) for an adventure out west to Montana and Idaho.
We didn’t have a specific day or location chosen for the proposal. Dylan and I were more so looking for what ‘felt’ right. After Glacier National Park, we made our way down to a small town in Idaho. Nestled in the wilderness, the town created the perfect combination of adventure and approachability for this Sawtooth Mountains proposal.
Having an adventure elopement photographer in the family means that every vacation includes couples photos. It’s part of the deal. Lucky for Dylan though, me ‘forcing’ them into photos didn’t throw any flags for Christine. We’d seen this spot while exploring the town earlier and I knew it would be perfect for sunset.
Shortly in to my ‘portfolio building’, Dylan got down on one knee. The Sawtooth Mountains showed off for the proposal and the rest is history. We celebrated with dinner, ice cream and a socially distanced outdoor dive bar with the locals.
Idaho, An Instant Favorite Location
This place was one of the most beautiful locations I’ve been to in the lower 48. For the adventurous, there are hikes galore. Alpine lakes, jagged ridges, you name it. For those a little more tame, there are hot springs, a beautiful river and 360 views from the best breakfast cafe you’ve ever eaten at. The town is so welcoming and you’ll immediately feel at home. It’s beaming with outdoor lovers and the wild west begs you to get out and explore with the ones you love most.
Want to Propose in Idaho?
Captivated by this view? Yeah, me too. An easy flight to Boise, Idaho will get you real close to the Sawtooth Mountains. Even better – my gal Emily, with Emily Aitkens Events, can help you plan your dream adventure elopement. I’ll be there to capture it all. Get in touch if you’d like to talk more!
